THE LONG LIGHT OF WINTER in Wisconsin

I like the long shadows. I took this in my rear driveway, looking south across my neighbor's yard. At that time the sun elevation was 12.4 degrees, the azimuth at 48 degrees (W of S). Under these conditions, a 20 ft telephone pole throws a shadow of 90 ft.

It’s risky, shooting so close into the sun. I’ve got a fine lens but it produced some flair. Digital images and Photoshop make it easy to minimize this. I could not have done it in my old darkroom.
