Big Band

Here's Gene

The Andrews Sisters, Patty, Maxene, and LaVerne, got their big break in 1938 with their hit: “Bei Mir Bist du Schoen,” a Yiddish tune. They were riding high here in 1939 at the Paramount along with Gene Krupa and his new band.
During World War II few performers spent more time than they in entertaining our troops overseas. Few servicemen will recall their “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree” (“with anyone else but me”) without an emotional twinge.
