Jersey City lies across the Hudson River from Manhattan. During our moving-about through the great depression, we lived for a time in a basement apartment here. This “crime” was charged against me in King Neptune’s Court after crossing the equator during World War II. Frank Hague, the city’s mayor at the time was one of America’s last political bosses.
King Neptune was not forgiving.
