Pommerntag, a celebration for people of Pomeranian descent, is held every June in Mequon, Wisconsin. In addition to German food, music, and traditional dancers, the organizers provide access to a genealogy computer data base of over 100,000 surnames. They say that if your immigrant ancestor was German, Protestant, and settled in the Midwest, he most likely came from an area on the Baltic Sea known as Pomerania or Pommern.
