Erin Rose New Orleans

Monaghan’s Erin Rose
Monaghan’s is only a half block from Bourbon Street but a world away. It’s like the kind of neighborhood bar you find in America’s older cities. Or like a Dublin Pub. I shot this during the quiet of mid-afternoon.
I wonder if “Monaghan” had these words in mind when he named his place:
“Come near; I would before my time to go,
Sing of old Eire and the ancient ways
Red Rose, proud Rose, sad Rose of all my days.”
W.B. Yeats
Years ago I stood by his grave in Sligo.

Erin Rose becomes lively in late afternoon. You get the feeling that these people have been here before. They’re mostly young, but welcoming to an old visitor.
